Guest Review #3 – Flateyri in April

This is my third guest review – written by the composer/visual artist Nathan Hall, who stayed in the apartment over the easter break. You can check out his website at www.nathan-hall.net

“I stayed at Neil’s place for two nights when I visited the West Fjords for a few days of sightseeing, stopping in to the ‘Aldrei fór ég suður’ music festival in Ísafjörður. Conveniently, Flateyri ended up being even more alluring than the music festival, and my friends and I spent most of our time exploring this curious place! It was a pleasure staying at this apartment- not only was it all to ourselves but it was clean, cozy, and the right price for our artists’ budgets. Normally I stay in hostels or guesthouses, but it was great to have more space to cook, relax, and sleep peacefully. The town is so small that everything was within a short walking distance, especially the foreboding avalanche wall, the old bookstore, and Flateyri’s charming (and only) bar/restaurant. The views from this area of the fjords are simply spectacular. We stayed in late April and the weather was unpredictable but still worth visiting at this time of year. Highly recommended if anyone wants to come to this area specifically, or is just passing through. Thanks again, Neil!”
